About the role
The Central Operations Manager supports the complete lifecycle of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities for high-voltage substation projects across North America. This role focuses on integrating technical, commercial, and logistical aspects to deliver turnkey solutions that meet Siemens Energy’s quality standards and client expectations. The manager oversees manpower scheduling and resource allocation for the Southern Central territory, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Drive operational execution across EPC substation projects by coordinating technical, commercial, and logistical workflows to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Oversee manpower scheduling and resource allocation for the Southern Central territory, building self-performance capabilities with union labor while optimizing personnel and equipment utilization.
- Implement operational strategies that enhance efficiency, productivity, and consistency across all EPC project phases, from pre-construction through commissioning.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, field teams, engineering groups, contractors, suppliers, and clients to maintain alignment and resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure compliance with union regulations, labor agreements, safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage Mini P&L responsibilities by monitoring costs, forecasting resource needs, and supporting financial performance across assigned EPC projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 10 or more years of experience in operations management, with a must-have background in high voltage substations. Working knowledge of grid operations, energy storage systems (BESS), and substation controls preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing EPC projects with a strong understanding of substation construction, manpower planning, and union labor coordination.
- Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and safety management practices for high-voltage construction sites.
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities to remain effective and composed while overseeing simultaneous critical-infrastructure operations.
- Proficiency with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and solid technical understanding of substation systems, civil works, commissioning processes, and daily reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Legal authorization for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
- Experience with travel (up to 40%) as needed.
