Responsibilities
- Assists with patient admission, transfer and discharge
- Completes baseline admission data on patient arrival
- Observes patient for changes in physical condition
- Demonstrates competency in the performance of technical skills, providing appropriate care with regard to patient's condition and age
- Maintains a safe environment for patients and follows standard precautions
- Complies with unit, departmental, and hospital policies/standards
- Participates in unit based Quality Management programs
- Implements emergency care procedure in actual and practice situations
- Documents information obtained during tests/procedures
- Works as a team member and supports cohesiveness of unit personnel
- Performs special duties as identified in unit or divisional policy under direction of the charge nurse
- Preserves patient privacy and confidentiality
- Contributes to the learning experience of students/new staff
- Supports and contributes to the education of patients and families
- Follows appropriate organizational channels
- Participates in unit and division staff meetings and inservices
- Demonstrates responsibility in the care and utilization of complex equipment
- Performs other projects and tasks as assigned
- Incorporates the principles of Service Leadership to ensure positive patient/customer relations
Requirements
- One year of health care experience involving direct patient care
