Assist in preparing and serving meals, clean up, and related food service duties in a K-12 educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties in the preparation, serving, transporting, and cleaning up after meals.
  • Operate cash register for meals and snack bar.
  • Prepare food service receipts as required.
  • Support the District’s mission, vision, and Strategic Plan through appropriate and cooperative behavior.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with District employees, community members, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional growth activities and respond to suggestions for improvement.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and seminars to gather or convey information related to job duties.
  • Recommend solutions to address short and long-term needs of the District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous school food service experience in quantity cooking preferred.
  • Possess a current food handlers card.
  • May be required to have a valid State of Washington Driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lb).
  • Experience handling money and operating a cash register preferred.
  • Ability to stoop, climb, and perform physical tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to relate effectively to students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to operate computers and copiers.
  • Achieve minimum acceptable levels/scores in reading, writing, math, and technology assessments.

Schedule

  • 201-day work year (including paid holidays that fall within the school year).
  • 8.0 paid hours per day, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute duty-free lunch.
  • Schedule: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

Pay

Salary range: $25.86 - $28.95 per hour (DOE), based on the 2025-26 PSE Salary Schedule A. Will be paid at the 2026-27 rate.

Work Environment

  • Job duties involve sitting, walking, standing, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels.
  • May be required to interact with distraught students.
  • Work is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
