Job Responsibilities
- Assists with Embalming: Provides high quality care, applies artistic and scientific knowledge, disinfects, sanitizes, preserves, and presents remains.
- Serves as a Liaison: Advises funeral directors, communicates with other staff, creates shift schedules, assists in training others.
- Supervises Embalming Room: Oversees activities, conducts quality checks, ensures proper procedures, maintains equipment, monitors formaldehyde levels, communicates with management.
- Removals and Transfers: Educates families, ensures dignity promise standards, confers with funeral directors.
- Overall Duties: Manages cases, prepares deceased for identification, conducts final reviews, assists with scheduling mortuary services, acts as manager when needed.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in mortuary science preferred
- State embalming license or certification required
- At least three years of embalming experience required
- Passes pre-employment background check and drug test
- Holds valid driver’s license and authorized driver status
- Maintains proper continuing education credits
- Knowledge of computers and some software required

Work Conditions
- Indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions
- Local and/or multiple location traveling required
- Physical demands: Frequent standing, kneeling, reaching, bending, carrying up to 100 pounds, climbing stairs
- Work hours: Working evenings and weekends every month
Work Postures
- Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up to 8 hours per day
- Kneeling, reaching, bending to move and arrange materials
- Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently
Physical Demands
- Physical effort requiring manual dexterity
