Job Responsibilities
- Assists with Embalming: Provides high quality care throughout the embalming process, applies artistic and scientific knowledge, disinfects, sanitizes, preserves, and presents remains respectfully.
- Serves as a Liaison: Advises funeral directors on remains’ condition and treatment, communicates with other location staff, creates shift schedules, and assists in training others.
- Supervises Embalming Room: Oversees activities, conducts quality checks, ensures proper procedures, maintains equipment, monitors formaldehyde levels, and communicates with the Central Care Center Manager.
- Removals and Transfers: Educates families on removal processes, ensures dignity standards, and collaborates with funeral directors.
- Overall Support: Acts as a backup for the Central Care Center Manager, assists with scheduling mortuary services, and conducts final reviews to meet client wishes.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in mortuary science preferred
- State embalming license or certification required
- At least three years of embalming experience required
- Passes pre-employment background check and drug test
- Holds valid driver’s license and is an authorized driver
- Maintains proper continuing education credits
- Knowledge of computers and some software

Work Conditions
- Indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions
- Local and/or multiple location traveling required
- Frequent, continuous periods of time standing for up to 8 hours per day
- Kneeling, reaching, and bending to move and arrange materials
- Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently
- Physical effort requiring manual dexterity
- Professional dress required when in contact with families
- Uniforms may be required in some locations
Pay and Benefits
$80,168.40-$85,000.00 based on experience
