Job Responsibilities
- Embalsms and prepares bodies, performs embalming and cosmetology duties, and may handle crematory responsibilities.
- Maintains a clean, stocked, and compliant preparation room; cleans soiled equipment and handles hazardous material spills according to Material Data Safety Sheets.
- Inventories and orders supplies; requests maintenance and repair of equipment; escalates equipment replacement to management.
- Inspects deceased at various preparation stages to meet family expectations; collaborates on training needs; develops job aids and procedure checklists; executes and participates in training activities; trains team on safe working environment and procedures.
- Oversees day-to-day operations; develops work schedules, delegates assignments, and communicates priorities and expectations; ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Develops and implements training programs; monitors training and licensing requirements; ensures staff is retrained or licensed before expiration; coordinates staff work and time-off schedules; screens candidates; hires or promotes staff; recommends pay increases, special pays, and career advancements.
Qualifications
- Holds and maintains any State-specific licensing and/or certifications.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
- At least five (5) years of experience in funeral home, care center, and/or decedent care preparation.
- Knowledge of computers and MS Office products.
- High level of skill, personal attributes, and abilities recognized by peers and management.
- Knowledge of computers and MS Office products.
- Physical demands include frequent standing, sitting, kneeling, reaching, bending, carrying up to 100 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 300 pounds, climbing stairs, and maintaining professional dress when in contact with families.
Education/Experience/Minimum Requirements
- State-specific diploma or accreditation.
- At least five (5) years of experience in funeral home, care center, and/or decedent care preparation.
