Centering Pregnancy Coordinator (RN), Day Shift, Maternal Care Center
About the role
Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Centering Pregnancy Coordinator (RN) for our Maternal Care Center.
Responsibilities
- Leads and collaborates with the Maternal Care Center’s interdisciplinary team towards achieving the goals of the Centering Healthcare Institute for Centering Pregnancy.
- Collaborates with Medical Director and Medical staff to ensure program requirements are met.
- Facilitates core team meetings.
- Conducts participant orientation and provides education regarding the Centering Pregnancy model of care.
- Sends welcome letter, general information and reminders with patients.
- Manages rosters and maintains attendance records.
- Develops and implements curriculum for Centering sessions including pregnancy, labor and delivery, recovery, newborn care, breast feeding and health promotion.
- Promotes patient self-care and self-management practices.
- Participates in ongoing program evaluation.
- Maintains regular communication with centering participants.
- Collects and reports annual data to meet CHI requirements.
- Designs and develops annual in-service trainings with Maternal Care Center team.
- Responds to all inquiries and concerns about the Centering Pregnancy groups.
- Reaches out to patients who miss centering sessions to assist with barriers to participation.
- Leads and participates in Quality Improvement projects for the Maternal Care Center ensuring integration of centering activities into these projects.
- Schedules Centering Pregnancy guest speakers (Lactation and Pediatrics).
- Collaborates with the Centering Health Institutes (CHI) site consultant on challenges.
- Supports Maternal Care Center staff.
- Develops and updates all promotional materials for public access to information about Centering Pregnancy and the Maternal Care Center.
- Provides education to patients including nutrition, childbirth, complications of pregnancy, and lactation.
- Supports the competency and clinical development of other clinic team members.
- Maintains supplies including patient notebooks and healthy snacks.
- Initiates communication with OB providers to promote new and existing groups.
Qualifications
- BSN
- Current MD licensure for Nursing
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an Obstetric setting required.
- Outpatient clinic experience preferred
- Experience and knowledge of prenatal, postpartum and newborn care.
- Experience with patient education
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with group facilitation preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- BLS via AHA
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
- CHI Certified Centering Facilitator within 1 year of hire.
