About the role
The UPS Store offers a unique entry-level graphic design position that blends design work with hands-on production and customer service. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to build business skills and a portfolio while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Graphic Designer / Center Associates deliver design-to-print products and world-class customer service to a diverse clientele, including business owners, corporate professionals, and families. Unlike a traditional full-time graphic design role, this position requires producing what you design and designing to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Understand and fulfill the needs of walk-in customers.
- Communicate effectively and practice active listening with customers, co-workers, vendors, and leadership.
- Empathize with and manage demanding, impatient, or frustrated customers to create positive experiences.
- Take ownership of customers’ shipping, packing, print, and related problems, offering viable solutions.
- Manage the logistics of small to medium projects, ensuring follow-through and updates for all parties.
- Design, proof, and update materials for print projects using Adobe products.
- Operate all equipment, software, and devices expertly and teach others as needed.
- Prioritize and optimize workload to streamline production flow.
- Multitask while maintaining extreme attention to detail and high-quality control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Perform store opening/closing duties, including end-of-day accounting.
- Stay updated on new products, services, industry trends, and occasionally retrain on lesser-used services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of customer service experience (more preferred).
- Minimum one year of experience in a print production/graphic design role or a two-year degree in graphic design or a related field.
- Aptitude to learn commercial printing and cutting equipment.
- Ability to work weekend days as required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites.
- Knowledge and application of printing concepts.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Strong analytical and math skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Good project and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team-player mindset.
- High energy level, promptness, reliability, and responsibility.
