Cemetery Admin Specialist.
Represent the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) at committal services and outreach events, providing information to Veterans and eligible family members about memorial benefits. Perform administrative duties supporting cemetery operations, including eligibility determinations for interment, clerical tasks, and problem resolution for inquiries related to burial eligibility, gravesite reservations, and discrepancies in service records.
Responsibilities
- Monitor committal services for compliance with NCA standards to honor Veterans and their families.
- Serve as the NCA representative at committal services and outreach events, answering questions about memorial benefits for Veterans and eligible family members.
- Perform administrative duties supporting cemetery operations, including planning and coordination with the Administrative Officer and/or Cemetery Administrator.
- Investigate and determine eligibility for interment in the National Cemetery.
- Perform clerical and office automation tasks using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams to generate reports and manage interment activities.
- Act as a clearing point for issues, including Congressional inquiries, eligibility questions, and discrepancies in service records.
- Handle public outreach and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Subject to a background/security investigation.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must serve a probationary period if selected.

- Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Must meet time-in-grade requirements if currently a Federal employee (52 weeks at the GS-05 level for this GS-07 position).
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet specialized experience and/or education requirements within 45 days of the closing date of this announcement.
- Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent, including:
- Gathering data and coordinating meetings.
- Establishing and maintaining filing systems.
- Using computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) to generate reports.
- Meeting internal and external customer needs, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Serving as a clearing point for issues or problems.
- Communicating with the public under stressful situations and handling conflicts constructively.
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for experience:
- One full year of graduate-level education from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last 2 years.
- GPA of 3.5 or higher in the major field of study, or for courses in the major completed in the last 2 years.
- Rank in the upper one-third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision.
- Membership in a national honor society (other than freshmen honor societies).
- Combination: Applicants may combine specialized experience and graduate-level education beyond a bachelor’s degree.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. Part-time experience will be credited based on time spent in appropriate activities.
Physical Requirements
- Work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, including severe heat and cold.
- Involves walking, standing for long periods, and carrying 23–35 pounds.
- Must be able to drive a government sedan, minivan, SUV, or pickup truck and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Approximately half of the work is performed outdoors; the other half is performed in an office setting.
Schedule
- Required to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Cemetery cannot close for more than 2 consecutive days; staff may be required to work on Federal holidays or weekends when holidays fall on a Monday or Friday.
- All staff must work on Memorial Day and Veterans Day each year.
- Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet cemetery needs.
- Occasional emergency overtime may be required.

Education
