Cement Finisher (Concrete Journeyman only)

Primary Function

Constructs, erects, installs, fabricates, dismantles and repairs structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories.

Typical Duties

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Construct, reinforce and dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Build and construct wooden forms.
• Set up and align concrete forms according to blueprints or construction plans.
• Mix, pour and spread concrete in specified proportions.
• Straighten and fine-grade surfaces using hand and power trowels.

Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to talk and hear to communicate.
• Must be able to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off of platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Carpenter in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, plant construction, maintenance or new construction.
• Knowledge of carpentry tools.
• Experience in building forms.
• Pass Craft proficiency testing at or above 70% or have an NCCER.
• Complete Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
• Able to obtain and maintain an active status within the approved drug testing program.
• Pass background check.
