Primary Function
Constructs, erects, installs, fabricates, dismantles and repairs structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories.Typical Duties
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
- Construct, reinforce and dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms.
- Build and construct wooden forms.
- Set up and align concrete forms according to blueprints or construction plans.
- Mix, pour and spread concrete in specified proportions.
- Straighten and fine-grade surfaces using hand and power trowels.
Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk and hear to communicate.
- Must be able to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
- Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off of platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Carpenter in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, plant construction, maintenance or new construction.
- Knowledge of carpentry tools.
- Experience in building forms.
- Pass Craft proficiency testing at or above 70% or have an NCCER.
- Complete Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
- Able to obtain and maintain an active status within the approved drug testing program.
- Pass background check.
