Responsibilities
- Duties will include but may not be limited to:
- - Construction Inspection:
- Conduct on-site inspections and develop quantities for upcoming resurfacing projects to include milling, asphalt paving, sidewalk ramp improvements, crosswalks, curbs, drainage improvements, pavement markings, erosion control, and other infrastructure components, in compliance with NCDOT standards and specifications.
- - Documentation and Reporting:
- Utilizing a company-provided iPad, maintain detailed daily records of activities.
- Generate clear and concise inspection reports, quantities and documentation of each resurfacing map along with other documentation pertinent to the upcoming work.
- Maintain detailed records of onsite activities to aid in the development of resurfacing plans.
- Maintain schedules. Projects are schedule driven and prompt execution of the work is required to keep project activities moving forward and let schedules consistent.
- - Safety Compliance:
- Monitor and adhere to safety protocols and best practices on construction sites.
- Report safety hazards and assist in the resolution of safety concerns.
- - Communication:
- Communicate professionally, clearly, and effectively with project managers, NCDOT staff, and general public. Project stakeholders, including NCDOT representatives, contractors, and project team members.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns promptly.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of construction-related experience OR an associate’s degree in engineering technology, geomatics, or related field AND two (2) years of construction-related experience
- Prior NCDOT Construction Inspection Experience
- Must be a self-starter with ability to set schedules, be organized in performance or work and effectively accomplish tasks assigned.
- A strong sense of responsibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and be schedule driven
- Exhibit attention to detail and provide consistent, accurate documentation
- Ability to understand project planning and resurfacing scope development
- Ability to accurately measure, document and convey field quantities to project managers
- Previous experience working on or with NCDOT projects
- Familiarity with NCDOT Standards and Specifications
- Ability to complete mathematical calculations to determine areas and volumes, and convert between units
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to work weekends and nights, if required
- Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Engineering or a related field
Skills
