About the role

As a CEI Inspector, you will:

  • Observe and inspect construction work and prepare daily inspection reports and constructability reviews
  • Oversee daily construction activities including earthwork, erosion control, reinforced concrete, and equipment installation
  • Ensure construction progress aligns with specifications and contract documents by reviewing plans and analyzing moderate complexity shop drawings
  • Maintain daily job logs and report deviations from plans to management promptly
  • Participate in reviewing submittals, assisting with Requests for Information (RFIs), and other related tasks
  • Cookordinate with contractors, client personnel, and other stakeholders regarding inspection activities
  • Advisors contractors on non-compliance or contract violations and collaborate on corrective actions
  • Verify that highway work zones and traffic control setups meet contract requirements
  • Assist in contractor evaluations and perform other duties as assigned
  • Use or learn necessary inspection tools and computer systems for accurate data collection and reporting

Requirements

The ability to work onsite in Henry County, as this is a requirement for the role.

A high school diploma (GED) and a minimum of 2 years of construction or inspection experience on roadway projects, or completion of a 2- or 4-year engineering technology or engineering program.

Preferably experience on TDOT or municipal roadway projects requiring daily records and reports on asphalt paving, concrete work, grading, structural work, and erosion control.

Licenses/registrations/certifications such as TDOT CEI certifications are a plus; may be required to participate in certification and training courses post-hire including OSHA, TDOT, or client-specific required training.

Completion of Level 1, and preferably Level 2, of the state’s Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) Training Program.

Familiarity with construction techniques, design principles, TDOT specifications, and documents.

Ability or willingness to learn the use of tools and equipment such as air meters, slump cones, transit levels, and tape measures.

Competence in computer use for data entry and reporting.

Strongly preferred completion of Level 1, and preferably Level 2, of the state’s Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) Training Program.

Familiarity with construction techniques, design principles, TDOT specifications, and documents.

Ability or willingness to learn the use of tools and equipment such as air meters, slump cones, transit levels, and tape measures.

Competence in computer use for data entry and reporting.
