CEI Engineer Intern

About the Role

The Construction Management Team is seeking a CEI Inspector/Engineer Intern for the Fort Pierce, Florida area. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Engineering or Engineering Technology degree.
• Engineering Intern classification requires EI certification.
• Ability to earn required qualifications and certifications within one year from the date of hire (provided the position works under the supervision of a Senior Inspector or Senior Engineer Intern, all other requirements are met, and a training plan is submitted).
• Active driver’s license.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• Computer proficiency.

Must have the following certifications as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment on the project at the time of Notice to Proceed (NTP):

• CTQP Final Estimates Level I
• CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
• CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
• CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
• CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
• CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts, including miscellaneous structures such as sign, lighting, and traffic signal structure foundations).
• IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
• FDOT Intermediate MOT
• Nuclear Radiation Safety
• Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

Recommended certifications (when the scope of the project includes concrete pavement, grinding concrete pavement, or concrete pavement slab replacement):

• PCC Paving Inspection (TC3CN004-15-T1)
• Diamond Grinding and Grooving (TC3MN009-15-T1)
• Curing, Sawing and Joint Sealing (TC3CN032-16-T1)

Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
• Ability to assist the Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.

Work Conditions

• Work is performed in the field.
• Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
• Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
