CE Instructor- Writing
The ideal candidate will have formal training and degrees in their discipline, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree preferred. They must have a minimum of 1–3 years of successful teaching experience in a college or music school environment, demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for engaging with diverse groups of people, including young children, adults, seniors, and local organizations.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one of the following writing styles: fiction, nonfiction, script-writing, comedy, poetry, song lyrics, professional development, technical writing, blogging, article composition, essay writing, copy-editing, indexing, business writing, children’s literature, screenwriting, creative writing, documentary, memoir, play-writing, TV and/or film writing, among others.
- A strong dedication to teaching and a sincere interest in supporting lifelong learning for individual students.
- Excellent communication skills, responsiveness to emails, openness to new ideas, initiative, and a willingness to promote and market personal classes.
The ideal candidate will be adept at clearly explaining concepts and techniques to students of varying ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Experience teaching online is necessary, and proficiency with virtual meeting applications is mandatory. Candidates must have a modern computer equipped with a microphone and camera for live online instruction, be capable of recording lectures on video, and create course materials using Blackboard. If not already familiar with Blackboard, applicants should be willing to participate in training sessions. Competency with email, social media platforms, text messaging, screen sharing, and content sharing is also required.
