About the role

To instruct students in Continuing Education (CE) Technical Manufacturing courses in accordance with college policies and procedures. Austin Community College is a public two-year institution serving a multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each Fall and Spring semester. Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in the Technical Advanced Manufacturing discipline
  • Provide learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourage critical thinking
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in the field and service to the profession and/or the community
  • Plan and organize lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids
  • Maintain office hours to assist students
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Effective teaching techniques adaptable to a variety of learning styles
  • Understanding the comprehensive mission and philosophy of community colleges
  • Subject matter and related and/or relevant topics and issues in the teaching discipline, including but not limited to:
    • Blueprint reading
    • Manufacturing processes
    • Basic electronics
    • Pneumatics
    • Industrial sensors and other electro-mechanical equipment
    • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes as they develop
  • Sensitive issues relating to a diverse student body
  • Principles and practices associated with Servant-Leadership

Skills

  • Maintain an established schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and multiple campus locations that vary
  • Effective planning, organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively assist student learning
  • Punctuality for classes
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information

Technology Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, classrooms, or other current learning technologies for effective teaching at the community college level

Work Experience

Three years of related work experience in a technical field.

Education

Associate degree or higher in a related field. Bachelor's degree or higher in a related area preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for teaching at multiple locations

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a classroom or lab setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students
  • Ability to lift and move 40 pounds

Pay

Salary range: $59,378 - $74,223
