Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and improvement of the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) program at the facility.
- Supervise clinical documentation specialists (CDS) to ensure designated tasks are performed synergistically with other departments and personnel.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of CDI/Data Quality, CDS Manager, Supervisor of Health Information Department, and Director/Supervisor of Case Management to support departmental functions related to clinical documentation.
- Work with medical staff to formulate strategies that enhance the quality of clinical documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine/surgery or licensure as a physician assistant or registered nurse.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist.
- Extensive knowledge of nursing care, clinical measurement tools, and clinical outcomes.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups, medical staff, and other healthcare disciplines.
- Experience in program and database development.
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or commitment to acquire CCS certification within 6 months of hire.

- Working knowledge of inpatient admission criteria.
- Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment.

Pay
