CDOC Psychologist Candidate (SCCF)
About the role
This position provides professional psychological services to special populations of inmates with mental illness or mental problems, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. The position adheres to DOC Mental Health Clinical Standards and Procedures, DOC AR's, and relevant statutes and guidelines. Duties include psychological assessment of mental health needs, individual and group therapy, clinical and behavioral management, staff assistance, and training regarding inmate mental health needs. The position also involves direct care in psychiatric crises or emergencies, regular communication with supervisors, and preparation for psychological licensure.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional psychological services to inmates with mental health needs
- Assist staff in understanding and addressing the mental health needs of inmates
- Direct care during psychiatric crises or emergencies
- Communicate regularly with clinical and administrative supervisors
- Participate in the 24-hour Mental Health On-Call Rotation
Requirements
- Current, valid permit as a Psychologist Candidate from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners
- Experience providing behavioral health treatment within a correctional environment
- Current listing with the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) as a treatment provider or evaluator
- Ability to effectively interact with and provide direct care to inmates
- Advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of Mental Health standards and guidelines
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across facility programs and with external agencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintain required permit/licensure
- Ability to read and comprehend the English language
- Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
- Self-control, ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations, and emotional stability
- Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high-stakes interaction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing behavioral health treatment within a correctional environment

Pay
The position is compensated on a bi-weekly pay cycle.
Schedule
