About the role

This position conducts assessment and psychological evaluation of sex inmates under the supervision of a licensed psychologist until own license is obtained; provides intensive sex inmate treatment including development and implementation of individual treatment plans, conduct group and individual therapy, conduct and prepare evaluations for case management, community corrections, Parole Board and parole; conducts training workshops for the correctional system on the dynamics of sex inmates, treatment and management in a correctional setting, and high risk behaviors; completes release planning in coordination with community parole officers and other agencies; provides crisis intervention; monitors chronically mentally ill inmates.

• Provide intensive sex inmate treatment including development and implementation of individual treatment plans, conduct group and individual therapy;
• Conduct and prepare evaluations for case management, community corrections, Parole Board and parole;
• Complete release planning in coordination with community parole officers and other agencies;
• Provide crisis intervention;
• Maintain chronically mentally ill inmates.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights: Applicant must possess a current, valid permit as a Psychologist Candidate from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners.
• Special Qualifications: Sex Offender Treatment and Monitoring Program (SOTMP): If appointed to a position, you have 30 days after completion of the Training Academy to apply to obtain listing with the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB).
• Experience: Experience providing behavioral health treatment within a correctional environment; Current listing with the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) as a treatment provider or evaluator.
• Required Competencies: Ability to effectively interact with and provide direct care to inmates; Advanced knowledge and a thorough understanding of Mental Health standards and guidelines; Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across facility programs and with external agencies; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Must maintain required permit/licensure; Ability to read and comprehend the English language; Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing; Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind; Self-control, a strong sense of ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations; Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout their shift; Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high-stakes interaction.
