CDOC - Community Parole Officer (Denver Metro)

About the role

The Division of Adult Parole manages and supervises inmates/parolees in the community, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. This role involves conducting field work, applying evidence-based supervision techniques, and responding to parolee non-compliant behavior.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field work such as pre-release plan investigations, home visits, job verifications, and parole violation investigations.
• Apply evidence-based assessment, case planning, and supervision techniques under supervision.
• Update the Colorado Transition Accountability Plan (CTAP) and monitor parolee compliance and progress.
• Provide crisis intervention, personal counseling, and guidance to parolees.
• Investigate violations, impose sanctions, and present case information for hearings.
• Maintain proficiency in firearm use, arrest control techniques, CPR, and first aid.
• Make arrests and transport parolees as required by law.

Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current and valid Colorado P.O.S.T. certification (or law enforcement certification equivalent) from another state with the ability to obtain your Colorado P.O.S.T. using the provisional process prior to being hired. Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license, and have no felony convictions or domestic violence history.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, or a combination of coursework and professional work experience in criminal justice, corrections, social work, counseling, or equal to four (4) years, which must include one (1) year of experience in social work, case management, or community supervision.
• Be eligible to obtain your Colorado P.O.S.T. certification through the provisional certification process or the Federal Reciprocity program prior to being hired.
