CDL Wide Load

About the role

The CDL Wide Load operates to deliver materials to job sites, primarily focusing on oversized loads such as wall panels and trusses. This position requires a strong focus on safety, customer service, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and maintain a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Prepare and record DOT required logs of time on duty and driving.
• Inspect and maintain the truck, report shortages and claims to the supervisor, and assist in loading and storing materials.
• Deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
• Organize and secure the load, check orders for accuracy, and complete daily equipment pre-inspection.
• Record all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation and provide excellent customer service.
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job and assist supervisor, other employees, and other work areas as assigned.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse.
• Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
• Operate roll-off or other specialty trailer safely and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and participate in and complete assigned trainings.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of CDL experience preferred.
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
• 1-3 years of CDL experience for interstate commerce required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
• Effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Constructive conflict resolution and problem recognition.
• Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).

Benefits

US LBM offers a competitive pay range of $26.00-$31.00/hr.
