CDL Driver- Hourly

About the role

Join our team at Carpenter Co. in Longview, NC as a CDL Driver (Local / Hourly). You will safely and efficiently deliver finished products to customers at various locations while communicating daily with multiple levels of company personnel and external customers. The role involves operating a company truck with exposure to weather conditions and customer sites, ensuring on-time delivery while complying with state and federal DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Receive and understand instructions from Dispatcher, Shipping Supervisor, and external customers.
• Maintain the highest respect for customers and meet their needs.
• Communicate and relay information effectively to others.
• Possess and maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within company guidelines.
• Follow administrative procedures for billing and manifest paperwork.
• Transport and deliver materials and services per customer requirements.
• Know, understand, and comply with all state and federal DOT rules and regulations governing tractor-trailer operations.
• Report conditions that may affect truck and trailer operations.
• Maintain accurate DOT logs.
• Deliver products as scheduled.
• Assist in loading and unloading, including lifting more than 75 lbs.
• Perform pre-trip, in-transit, and post-trip equipment/vehicle checks.
• Fuel and check fluid levels of the unit(s) used.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of driving experience, including product delivery.
• Possess and maintain a valid CDL driver’s license.
• Acceptable previous employment checks.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to call-ins with little notice.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to drive manual transmission trucks.

Pay

Hourly rate: $23.69–$24.55.
