About the Role
The Cullman County Commission's Sanitation Department is hiring a full-time Residential Driver (CDL) or Residential Driver/Collector. The Residential Driver (CDL) is responsible for driving garbage truck on an assigned route. The Residential Driver/Collector will assist the Driver in in picking up bags and cans of garbage on assigned routes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and service assigned equipment.
- Report any problems and complaints encountered along the route to the supervisor.
- Work in extreme weather conditions as needed.
- Work non-standard hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Class B CDL.
- Have a driving record that meets standards set by the County's insurance carrier.
- Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
- Have defensive driving skills and knowledge of traffic regulations.
- Be familiar with safety standards and practices.
- Have reading skills to understand operators manuals, directives, procedures, and instructions.
- Work in extreme weather conditions as needed.
- Work non-standard hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the county and its road system is preferred.

Benefits
This is a "Safety-Sensitive" position. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and will be subject to random and routine unannounced drug screenings throughout their employment with the County in a "Safety-Sensitive" position.
