About the role
As a CDL Driver, you’ll play an essential role in supporting JASA’s mission by providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for older adults.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate agency vehicles, including 12-passenger and 18-passenger buses, to transport program participants to and from scheduled trips, activities, and services while ensuring their safety, comfort, and overall experience.
- Operate agency 12-passenger and 18-passenger buses while prioritizing participant safety.
- Apply professional CDL driving skills to ensure safe transportation.
- Maintain vehicles and follow all transportation safety requirements and regulations.
- Support daily program operations through transportation assistance and center activities.
- Respond to participant needs with patience, professionalism, and care.
Requirements
- Valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Experience operating passenger buses or CDL-required vehicles.
- Experience transporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, or community members.
- No more than one moving violation within the last two years.
- No history of driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional driving experience required.
- Experience transporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, or community members preferred.
- Ability to safely operate both 12-passenger and 18-passenger buses required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to climb stairs and assist participants as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate passenger buses and assist participants with mobility needs.
