About the role
Torc, a leader in autonomous driving since 2007 and part of the Daimler family, is focused on developing software for automated trucks. As a CDL Driver, you will operate autonomous semi-trucks safely, comply with traffic laws and DOT regulations, and provide critical feedback to improve our autonomous technology.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate autonomous semi-trucks while obeying all traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Perform thorough DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including safety checks before and after operation.
- Communicate any safety concerns to operations management and obtain approval before driving.
- Complete driving reports, logs, and tests to collect data for technology improvement.
- Provide feedback on system performance to software and safety teams.
- Navigate interstate and intrastate regulations, road conditions, and weather challenges.
- Maintain accurate logs and records, and report changing conditions to site locations immediately.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured to prevent damage or injury.
- Perform truck and trailer maintenance tasks such as refueling, checking tire pressure, and cleaning.
- Communicate maintenance needs to mechanical technicians promptly.
- Use Slack, Microsoft Office Suite, and internal software interfaces for communication and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, software developers, technicians, and operators.
Requirements
- 3+ years of over-the-road driving experience.
- Valid Commercial Class A Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to proprietary software and evolving technology platforms.
- Moderate skill set with proficiency in discipline; completes important work under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
- Competencies and technical proficiencies typically acquired through a BS degree or 0-3+ years of relevant experience.

Pay
Hiring range: $87,700—$105,200 USD.
