CDL B Driver (Local)

Location: Newnan, GA - Retail shop

About the role

As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided CDL B vehicle. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while frequently connecting with Airgas customers.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies
• Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers
• Support deliveries in a timely manner
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; we emphasize the physically active and hands-on nature of this position. Drivers will frequently move in and out of their vehicle

A day in the life of an Airgas driver

Schedule

• Consistent routine: Monday-Friday with a 6am start time
• Predictable schedule
• An average work week of 40 hours

Requirements

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT & Airbrake endorsements (HAZMAT is required; candidates will not be considered without it)
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months
