About the role
The CDL A Reefer Hazmat Truck Driver transports various materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous, to, from, and within customer facilities and storage using a variety of heavy vehicles and trailers. Our drivers are "working drivers" and assist crews by performing supportive tasks when not driving.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport liner that must be kept under refrigerated conditions
- Monitor freight throughout the trip
- Load and unload trailers, either individually or with assistance, using mechanical or non-mechanical handling equipment
- Record hours of service via an electronic log
- Maintain vehicle interior and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Perform visual inspections of assets before, during, and after shifts
- Communicate vehicle or equipment damage to maintenance before loading via electronic log
- Utilize safe driving skills in various conditions, including heavy traffic, inclement weather, and tight spaces
- Complete documentation and data entry for inspection reports, work orders, shipping documents, and project notes accurately
- Communicate all accidents and/or incidents immediately
Requirements
- Valid CDL A with Hazmat endorsement
- 2+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving, preferably with Jet/Vac, Boiler, or Reefer trucks
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, DOT physical, and driver’s license check
- Ability to work overtime and out of town
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 lbs
- Ability to enter and work in confined spaces if necessary
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
- Great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts
- Able to operate electric lifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
Pay
Salary range: $22.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, skills, experience, education, certifications, and geographic location.
Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but may include shift work, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Flexibility is required as job duties demand. Travel may be required based on operational needs.
