Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to a specific group of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assists with toileting, including bedpans, commodes, urinals, and incontinence care.
• Applies proper body mechanics for transfers and ambulation.
• Performs vital signs and phlebotomy duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff both orally and in writing.
• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or similar role.
• Completion of a phlebotomy course with at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR 80 hours of clinical rotation with one (1) year of healthcare experience.
• National Phlebotomy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Current AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (ongoing).
• Successful completion of Garnet Health’s Orientation program, including classroom and clinical components.
• Validation of required performance skills.
• Internal Crisis Intervention training required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking.
• Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Visual acuity and color discrimination.
• Effective communication and comprehension skills.
• Manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
• Ability to anticipate unexpected patient movements.
• Capable of working varied hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
• Alertness required during all phases of work.

Working Conditions

• Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
• Demonstrates full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
• Visual and aural acuity, as well as finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
• Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and constant walking.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
• Mental demands include fostering collaborative relationships, working well under pressure, organizing and synthesizing new information, prioritizing tasks, critical thinking, analytical skills, flexibility, and multitasking.
• Requires detailed attention to work in an environment with uncontrolled interruptions.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
• May be subject to irregular hours, including evenings or weekends, to participate in operational and community events.

Pay

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range of $29.06 - $36.64 hourly to comply with New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Compensation is determined based on factors such as location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.

Schedule

This is an on-site role. Hours may vary, including evenings or weekends, to meet operational and community needs.
