Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to a specific group of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assists with toileting (e.g., bedpan, commodes, urinals, incontinence care).
  • Performs proper body mechanics for transfers and ambulation.
  • Takes vital signs.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and staff both orally and in writing.
  • Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or similar role.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy course with at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR 80 hours of clinical rotation with one (1) year of healthcare experience.
  • National Phlebotomy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (ongoing).
  • Successful completion of Orientation program including classroom and clinical components.
  • Validation of required performance skills.
  • Internal Crisis Intervention training required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Visual acuity and color discrimination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and comprehend conversation.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Must anticipate unexpected movements by patients.
  • Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night.
  • Alertness required during all phases of work.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Pay

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for this role is $29.06 - $36.64 hourly. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining compensation, several factors may be considered, including location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
