CCT Paramedic
About the role
To provide a high-level of care to critically ill patients while transporting them to healthcare facilities. Critical Care Paramedics have an expanded scope of practice allowing them to administer more medications than normal paramedics.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing emergency care for patients as they are transported from one facility to another.
- Keeps the patient stable throughout transport by assessing, monitoring, and intervening using a variety of procedures and interventions.
- Makes sure chest tubes are monitored.
- Monitors transvenous pacemaker monitoring, able to adjust rate and milliamps if needed.
- Monitors balloon pumps.
- Performs NG and OG insertions.
Requirements
- Must possess current Licensure as required by state where services are being provided: WV: Paramedic through the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services
- Nationally registered as Paramedic as required by state board: WV: Paramedic through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (Unless state license is State License Only (SLO)
- Mobile Critical Care Paramedic Certification through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services.
- Basic Life Support Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) OR Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP)
- Three (3) years’ experience as a Field Paramedic
Qualifications
Knowledge of cardiac monitoring of 4 lead ECG and obtaining/interpreting 12 lead ECG's
Knowledge of tracheal intubation’s.
Knowledge of ventilator setting and monitoring
Accessing PICC Lines for medication administration
Capabilities of performing RSI
Setting IV pumps for multiple medication administration’s
Skills
Skills and abilities include:
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring of 4 lead ECG and obtaining/interpreting 12 lead ECG’s
