CCRR Family Group Child Care Coach

About the Role

Our Family Childcare Coaches play a critical role in supporting family child care providers across Tennessee. This position involves providing technical assistance, training, and resources to enhance the quality of home-based child care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance at times convenient for child care programs, including weeknights or weekends.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training in large and small group settings.
  • Create and facilitate peer learning groups for family and group child care professionals.
  • Conduct onsite visits to family and group child care programs in assigned service delivery areas.
  • Assist with planning and delivering the Family & Group Child Care statewide conference.
  • Submit data on training, coaching, and technical assistance within 3 days of service delivery.
  • Research and stay current on quality practices for home-based child care businesses.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of Tennessee’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).
  • Support child care professionals seeking accreditation through the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) or other national systems.
  • Assist family child care professionals in obtaining a Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™.
  • Provide support for the regional Children in Disaster Task Force, including emergency preparedness planning for child care professionals.
  • Submit an application to determine eligibility as a CDA Professional Development Specialist.
  • Maintain professional relationships with area coaches and support other CCR&R coaches.
  • Participate in CCR&R Network meetings, local staff meetings, and partner meetings as required by the Department of Human Services.
  • Attend Train-the-Trainer events, all-staff meetings, and supplemental trainings, which may include overnight travel.
  • Serve as a facilitator for Train-the-Trainer Institutes and supplemental trainings as requested.
  • Author content for family and group child care resources, newsletters, social media, and the CCR&R website.
  • Collaborate with applicable state agencies.
  • Achieve and maintain First Aid/CPR instructor certification provided by CCR&R.
  • Positively market the CCR&R Network to the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in education, Early Childhood Education, Child & Family Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of early childhood/education experience.
  • Direct care experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Tennessee’s QRIS and licensing programs, as well as the role of the Tennessee Child Care Resource and Referral Network.
  • Ability to train adults using principles of adult learning.
  • Physical examination and record of negative TB test results on file with Signal Centers.
  • Dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance required.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the assigned Tennessee service area.
  • Ability to work remotely from a home environment within Tennessee.
  • Must pass a background check to ensure eligibility to work in child care centers in Tennessee.
