About the role
The Target Sports Director is a senior program leader responsible for overseeing all target sports programming, including archery, riflery, and related activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all practices meet or exceed Colorado Child Care Licensing regulations, American Camp Association standards, and USA Archery guidelines.
- Provide training, coaching, scheduling, and ongoing evaluation for target sports staff to ensure high quality instruction, camper engagement, and consistent risk management.
- Maintain responsibility for equipment procurement, inventory, maintenance, and inspection, as well as establishing and implementing standardized operating procedures for each target sports area.
- Collaborate with the program leadership team to support strong camper outcomes in skill development, confidence, and sportsmanship.
- Afford exceptional customer service, clear communication, and professionalism to uphold the safety, organization, and quality of the camp’s target sports program.
- Assist other program departments to ensure smooth daily operations and an integrated camper experience.
Requirements
- Certification in USA Archery Level 1 or higher through an accredited organization.
- Minimum of 16 hours documented experience in Riflery instruction OR a NRA instructor certification.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Experience working with youth in a summer camp setting preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain certification.

- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Willingness to comply with YMCA and DOT rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
- Valid US Driver's license or Commercial Driver's License, satisfactory driving safety record, DOT Medical Card, and completion of YMCA driver training program.
