Job Description
The Cavanal Hill Research Analyst position is primarily responsible for supporting the research efforts of the fundamental fixed income or equity portfolio management team. The position requires a highly motivated, technically trained person who can analyze, interpret, and develop a conclusion based on a company’s publicly available financial information. The position will be required to present and defend his/her investment conclusions on investments held or being considered for the portfolios we manage.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- Develop familiarity with fundamental stock research, industry research and sector analysis through reading sell-side investment reports and using those reports and other public information to gain understanding.
- Analyze information from financial statements for selected industries and companies.
- Interact with sell side analysts, senior management and investor relations officers of target companies.
- Quickly gather, interpret and make preliminary conclusions on data to hold meaningful discussions with sell-side analysts and management of companies.
- Present new ideas and conclusions to the fundamental equity team.
Education & Experience Requirements
- This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 0-2 years of relative work experience or 3-7 years of equivalent work experience.
- Additional certification/schooling also likely necessary to perform the role at an acceptable level.
- Average preference is for a CFA candidate, MBA and/or CPA.
- Strong academic performance – prefer 3.5+ GPA.
- Solid financial modeling and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong comprehension of financial statement and accounting guidelines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be a strong self-starter and able to work well independently.
- Natural curiosity and independent/creative thinking is a must.
Preferred
CFA candidate, MBA and/or CPA
