Catholic Preschool Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Assistant to support a classical and Catholic Preschool classroom for up to 13 hours per week during the 2026-27 academic year at our center near Portland, Oregon, in Camas, Washington. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required; we will provide all necessary training.

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Learn more at www.rcahybrid.org.

This position is hourly, and childcare/nursery is provided for children up to two years old. Center hours during the academic year are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children, ministry in a Catholic parish, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, or teaching in a classical or private school (though not required).
• Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
• A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to their state in life.
• A deep love for children and the Catholic faith.

Requirements

• Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Must attend one staff training day on August 11, 12, or 13, 2026 (date TBD).
• Must complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom instruction and management according to RCA standards.
• Follow provided curriculum and grading guidelines.

Schedule

• Part-time, up to 13 hours per week during the 2026-27 academic year.
• Center hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM.
