Catholic Kindergarten Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Catholic Kindergarten Assistant to support the Kindergarten classroom in a classical and Catholic program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position is 13 hours per week at our center near Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas.

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Curriculum and classroom guidelines are provided, and tutors are trained to deliver instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards, based on the methods of St. John Bosco.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in providing a safe and joyful environment for children.
• Work as part of a team to support classroom activities and instruction.
• Follow RCA’s curriculum and classroom management standards.

Requirements

• Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to your state in life.
• Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
• Traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Must pass a background check and complete RCA Safe Child training before teaching.
• Must be available to attend one mandatory training day on August 12, 13, or 14, 2026 (8am–5pm; no childcare provided, nursing babies welcome).

Qualifications

No teaching certification, childcare experience, or formal teaching experience is required. We will train you in everything you need to know. The ideal applicant may have experience in:

• Caring for young children.
• Ministry in a Catholic parish.
• Teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
• Homeschooling or teaching your own children.

Schedule

• 13 hours per week: Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00am – 3:30pm.
• Childcare/nursery is provided during work hours.
• No additional vacation days (accommodations made for sick days as needed).
• Vacation and Holy Days follow RCA’s published schedule.
