What You’ll Do as a Heavy Equipment Technician
- Diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied-brand construction equipment
- Perform diagnostics using Cat ET and other software tools
- Service electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and undercarriage systems
- Complete preventative maintenance and parts installation
- Restore equipment to working condition in a shop or field setting
- Operate independently or collaborate with service mentors as needed
Requirements
- Mustown the tools necessary to perform repairs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, fuel systems
- Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experience using Cat ET or similar diagnostic software
- Prior experience in construction equipment service or military equipment repair
- Strongly Preferred: Experience welding and fabrication (MIG, arc welding, gouging, torch use)
- Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor components
- Familiarity with Caterpillar or competitor brand machinery
