Job Description

Chicago Marriott Northwest is seeking a Banquet Sales Manager. Responsibilities include developing and executing sales strategies for group events, parties, and catering. Requires 2 to 5 years of banquet and related experience. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and executes group sales efforts through sales calls and in-person visits to businesses and fundraising organizations.
  • Manages accounting details such as invoice development and payment collection.
  • Reserves, coordinates, and details corporate and social events.
  • Produces weekly group sales reports, sales strategies, and updates on revenue.
  • Coordinates food and beverage service, linens, and rentals for each event.
  • Manages guest surveys and ensures guest satisfaction.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for groups or events to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with the kitchen and banquet staff to guarantee flawless execution of events.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree preferred in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or Sales.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with responsibility for large volume events.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Sound business judgment and the ability to generate effective solutions quickly or raise issues to management.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team player with an exceptional customer service attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
