Catering Sales Manager
Mazzone Hospitality originated over 30 years ago with a small restaurant in downtown Schenectady. Our commitment to customer service has grown us into the most prestigious hospitality company in upstate New York, operating two divisions: On/Off premise catering and business dining. Currently, we serve 18 locations throughout the Capital District with over 1,000 employees.
About the role
The Catering Sales Manager generates sales and ensures events are successful by managing client and company expectations. This role involves establishing strong relationships with clients, venue contacts, staff, and vendors while handling all aspects of the sales process—from lead generation to event execution and rebooking. Administrative duties are also part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Manage the sales process from initial lead generation and development to deal closing and sale completion.
- Actively participate in and lead community engagement activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and competitor activity.
- Write proposals and respond to client inquiries via telephone and email within 48 hours.
- Conduct client meetings and site or venue walkthroughs.
- Use computer software to produce contracts, correspondence, forms, and other documents.
- Coordinate terms and conditions with event venues and vendors to meet service expectations.
- Distribute event documents to appropriate departments for prompt processing.
- Process orders for menus, staffing, equipment, linens, beverages, and specialty requests, ensuring timely communication of client needs.
- Consult with clients to plan event details such as guest count, display space, and food service schedules.
- Create floor plans, timelines, and logistics plans for clear communication to on-site staff and vendors.
- Attend events in an advisory role to ensure success and client satisfaction.
- Assign and/or execute final meetings and ceremonies.
- Collaborate with the sales team and contribute to overall team goals and company initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of experience in sales, event marketing, or event management.
- Hospitality, food service, catering, or event planning experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the Capital Region, including areas as far south as the Hudson Valley, as far north as Saranac, and east to the Berkshires.

Pay
$62,353.20 to $65,000 annually, plus eligibility for 1.5% commission.
