About the role

Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Catering/Commissary Driver to prepare and deliver assigned products to aircraft and retrieve spent carts.

Responsibilities

  • Verify flight documentation to ensure correct items are loaded before heading to ramp
  • Interact with Customer Service team members to identify and resolve problems
  • Comply with standard operating procedures regarding driving, positioning the unit at the planes, securing the work platform, and loading and unloading carts on and off the planes
  • Deliver, remove, and clear aircraft of carts, food, beverage, essential supplies, and catering waste between the elevated box (15 ft) of the catering truck and the aircraft
  • Perform safety inspection of assigned items, including the truck, at the beginning and end of the shift
  • Coordinate with the manager and catering team to turn assigned planes simultaneously and communicate with other departments as necessary
  • Prepare soda and beverage carts, assist with preparing Personal Supply Kits
  • Service international and domestic charter and scheduled flights
  • Relay information to supervisor on any interruptions to normally scheduled service and work together on solutions
  • Put delivered supplies in the appropriate area
  • Maintain cleanliness of workspace
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to anticipate needs of coworkers and passengers in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a continuous driving records check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an MSP SIDA badge with a CBP Seal
  • Proficiency driving lift trucks
  • Ability to drive and maneuver catering truck to the rear of the aircraft and raise the box of the catering truck to the aircraft
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently push or pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds
  • Frequently work at heights around fifteen (15) feet

Preferred Qualifications

  • Airline experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Operating a box truck with and without air brakes

Pay

Rate: $18.50 USD per hour

Schedule

Initial Schedule: 11 AM to 7:30 PM - Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays. Shift availability and minimum shift requirements are subject to change due to business needs.

Work Environment

This job operates both indoors and outdoors. When working indoors, this position will be in a warehouse environment. When working outdoors, the employee will be exposed to various weather conditions (such as rain, sleet, snow) and hot and cold temperatures. The employee may work during the day or night and will be exposed to loud noises from arriving and departing planes.
