About the role

Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Catering/Commissary Driver to prepare and deliver assigned products to aircraft and retrieve spent carts.

Responsibilities

  • Verify flight documentation to ensure correct items are loaded before heading to ramp.
  • Interact with Customer Service team members to identify and resolve problems.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures regarding driving, positioning the unit at the planes, securing the work platform, and loading and unloading carts on and off the planes.
  • Work in a team environment while taking ownership of assigned catering carts and deliveries independently.
  • Drive and maneuver catering truck to rear of the aircraft and raise box of catering truck to the aircraft.
  • Deliver, remove, and clear aircrafts of carts, food, beverage, essential supplies, and catering waste between elevated box (15ft) of catering truck and the aircraft efficiently.
  • Perform safety inspection of assigned items, including assigned truck, at beginning and end of the shift.
  • Coordinate with the manager and catering team to turn assigned planes simultaneously and communicate with other departments as necessary.
  • Prepare soda and beverage carts, assist with preparing Personal Supply Kits.
  • Service international and domestic charter and scheduled flights.
  • Relay information to supervisor on any interruption to normally scheduled assigned service to planes and work together on solutions and alternatives.
  • Put delivered supplies in appropriate area.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to anticipate needs of coworkers and passengers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a continuous driving records check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an MSP SIDA badge with a CBP Seal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Airline experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Operating a box truck with and without air brakes.

Skills

  • Proficiency driving lift trucks.

Pay

Rate: $18.50 USD per hour.

Schedule

Initial Schedule: 3:00 AM to 11:30 AM Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Shift availability and minimum shift requirements are subject to change due to business needs.

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt.

Work Environment

This job operates both indoors and outdoors. When working indoors, this position will be in a warehouse environment. While working outdoors, the employee will be exposed to various weather conditions (such as rain, sleet, snow) and hot and cold weather. Outdoor work may occur during the day or night. The position is also exposed to loud noises from arriving and departing planes.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently push or pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Frequently work at heights around fifteen (15) feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, low light and nighttime vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
