Category Manager, Branded Merchandise
for sections like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. Do NOT repeat job title as heading. Do NOT put Job ID/requisition numbers as headings. Remove boilerplate, navigation, legal, EEO, equal-opportunity, scam-warning, duplicated lines, application instructions. Include a section ONLY when posting has real, specific content for it — never emit heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g., "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless posting actually states them. Prefer few substantive sections over many thin ones.
We need to parse the posting: It's a job posting for Category Manager at MOO. Content includes: About MOO (company description), The Role (summary), The person we want (desired qualifications), Responsibilities (with subheadings: Category & Assortment Management, Sales & Promotional Products, Supplier & Brand Management, Cross-Functional Leadership), About you (experience requirements), Nice To Haves (additional desired), What’s it like to work at MOO? (benefits and culture), Diversity Statement (EEO but we should remove EEO boilerplate? The instruction: remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate. Diversity statement is EEO-like; we should remove it. Also the optional survey about inclusion and diversity is also EEO-related; remove. Also mention of AI tools in hiring process maybe considered legal? Probably remove as it's part of hiring process boilerplate. Also "We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools..." is likely boilerplate; remove.
We need to keep substantive info: company description, role summary, responsibilities, qualifications, nice-to-haves, benefits (vacation days, medical/dental/vision, life and AD&D, 401(k) match, dog-friendly casual office, free lunches every other week). Also maybe mention of work/life balance, career growth. Also mention of location? Not needed as heading? Could be part of About the role? But we can include in a short paragraph.
We must not create Pay or Schedule sections unless posting actually states them. No pay or schedule mentioned. So we omit those sections.
We need sections: About the role (maybe combine company description and role summary?), Responsibilities, Requirements (or Qualifications), Skills, Benefits. The instruction says use headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). We can choose which to include based on content.
We have content for About the role (company description + role summary). Responsibilities (detailed). Requirements/Qualifications/Skills (the "About you" and "Nice To Haves" maybe combine). Benefits (What’s it like to work at MOO? includes benefits). We should not create a separate Skills heading if we can combine into Requirements/Qualifications. But we can have Requirements (experience) and Skills (maybe separate). However instruction: prefer few substantive sections over many thin ones. So maybe combine Requirements, Qualifications, Skills into one section like "Requirements". Or we could have "Requirements" and "Nice-to-haves" as subpoints within same section? But we need to follow heading usage: we can have
Requirements
and include both required and nice-to-haves as lists.
We must not repeat job title as heading. So no heading for "Category Manager". Good.
We need to preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep details like: 34 days of combined vacation and holidays, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life and AD&D insurance, 401(k) with company match and no vesting schedule, dog-friendly and casual office environment, free lunches every other week. Also mention of career growth, work/life balance, ability to dye hair purple, hit sofa with laptop, etc. Those are substantive.
We need to remove duplicated lines, boilerplate. Also remove the "Not online but out there, in real life." maybe keep as part of company description? It's substantive about MOO's ethos; keep.
We need to remove the diversity statement and AI hiring process lines. Also remove the optional survey invitation. Also remove the "We’ve been given the highest business award in Britain, ‘The Queen’s Award for Enterprise’." That's substantive; keep. Also "Backed by venture capital, we’re part of Tech Nation’s ‘Future Fifty’, recently passing $1bn in lifetime revenue, and featuring in the Guardian’s top 10 UK start-ups list." Keep.
Also "Ok, we’ll stop bragging now." maybe keep as part of tone but it's not substantive; could be removed as filler? It's not essential info but it's part of the narrative; maybe we can keep as it's not boilerplate but it's conversational. The instruction: preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. It's not substantive but it's not boilerplate; we could keep it but it's not needed. Safer to keep? It's not harmful. But we might remove as it's not needed. I'd keep it to preserve original voice but it's not required. I'd keep it as it's not boilerplate.
Also "Today, we’re more than 400 people with our global HQ in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you’ll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO and with our most recent office expansion in Cape Town South Africa." Keep.
Now structure:
About the role
MOO brings brands to life in a sustainable way, with a range of remarkable print and merchandise products. ... (company description) ... The Role We’re looking for a commercially minded Category Manager to own and grow MOO’s branded merchandise assortment across premium brands, promotional products and third-party suppliers. Alongside our online assortment, you’ll partner closely with Sales to develop a broader promotional product offering for business customers across gifting, events and branded merchandise programs.
But we need to avoid repeating the job title as heading; we already have heading About the role, fine.
We need to ensure we don't include "The Role" as a heading inside paragraph; it's okay as part of prose.
Now Responsibilities: we have subheadings within responsibilities: Category & Assortment Management, Sales & Promotional Products, Supplier & Brand Management, Cross-Functional Leadership. We could either keep them as or just as bold text? The instruction only mentions using for section headings; subheadings not specified. We could keep them as or . Safer to keep as maybe but not required. Could also just keep as
with bold. But we need to use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. The responsibilities are a list of duties; we can make a
with each duty as - . However there are subcategories; we could embed subheadings inside
- or separate. Simpler: create a
with each bullet being a duty; we can incorporate the subheadings as part of the bullet text.
Let's extract duties:
From Category & Assortment Management:
- Own the strategy, performance and ongoing development of MOO’s third-party branded merchandise assortment
- Define category architecture and identify opportunities across areas such as drinkware, notebooks, pens, bags, apparel and gifting
- Use customer insight, sales performance, market trends and competitive activity to identify assortment gaps, additions and exits

Supplier & Brand Management:
- Build strong relationships with third-party suppliers and premium brand partners

- Monitor supplier and product performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Act as the category expert for branded merchandise across MOO
- Partner closely with Sales, Ecommerce, Product Marketing, Brand, Creative, Operations, Supply Chain and Planning
- Use category performance and commercial insight to make clear recommendations and influence future investment
- Partner with the wider Category team to ensure MOO’s overall product portfolio is cohesive and customer-led

- Experience owning and developing product assortments, including identifying new products and category growth opportunities.

- Experience working with premium consumer brands.
- Knowledge of decoration methods and promotional product supply chains.
- Familiarity with the promotional-products supplier/distributor ecosystem.
- Experience across both ecommerce and sales-led assortments.
We could combine required and nice-to-haves in one list, maybe separate with headings? But we prefer few sections. Could have a single Requirements
and within that have two lists: one for Required, one for Nice-to-haves, each preceded by a or . But we must not create filler headings. Using to label "Required:" and "Nice to have:" is okay.
Now Benefits: from "What’s it like to work at MOO?" includes:
- 34 days of combined vacation and holidays
- comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- plus life and AD&D insurance
- 401(k) with company match and no vesting schedule
- dog-friendly and casual office environment
- free lunches every other week
- ability to dye your hair purple, hit the sofa with your laptop (culture)
- career growth, work/life balance recognition
We should keep those as bullet list.
Now we need to remove boilerplate: Diversity Statement, AI hiring process lines, optional survey invitation, maybe also the "We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools..." lines. Also remove the "As a design and technology company we have a desire and a responsibility..." that's part of diversity statement; remove.
Also remove the "Therefore, we’d like to invite you to complete this optional survey..." etc.
Also remove the "We keep the information separate from your application..." etc.
Also remove the "By submitting this information, you consent..." etc.
Also remove the "If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us." etc
for prose. Do NOT repeat job title as heading. Do NOT put Job ID/requisition numbers as headings. Remove boilerplate, navigation, legal, EEO, equal-opportunity, scam-warning, duplicated lines, application instructions.
