Category Analyst
About the role
The Category Analyst plays a valuable role by assisting in providing consultative category guidance to deliver market leading growth across KDP Brands and Retail Partners. This individual conducts high quality analyses and synthesizes multiple data sources to generate insights and actionable recommendations, while leveraging effective communication & influencing skills to orchestrate action within the HQ and Customer Facing teams.
Responsibilities
National Distribution Tracking (NDT): Manage retailer item and distribution inputs for NDT across multiple customers. Review and validate data submitted by category management teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Partner with IT to troubleshoot data issues and maintain reliable reporting outputs. Support reporting related to voids, new items, target items, and distribution performance.
Category & Space Analytics Support: Conduct robust analysis using research, category management capabilities, analytical tools, and data visualization to identify and communicate business opportunities and challenges. Assist with ad hoc analytical requests for customer-facing teams, including Fountain Food Service (FFS) stakeholders. Support development and maintenance of JDA/Blue Yonder planograms and merchandising layouts. Organize and analyze category performance data to support retail recommendations, elevating analyses beyond reporting to translate insight into retail action.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between category management teams, IT, shopper insights, and customer-facing teams, and develop relationships that establish KDP as the indispensable partner for category management needs. Collaborate with internal cross-functional and customer-facing teams to develop both strategic and tactical solutions to business opportunities. Help identify and remove process obstacles that impact execution efficiency. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of recurring business review materials and insight decks.
Reporting & Data Quality: Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools used for distribution and category reporting. Perform data audits and quality checks to ensure reporting integrity. Provide category management reporting, trend analysis, customized reports, and special project work for the KDP cross-functional team and key stakeholders. Support continuous improvement efforts related to reporting processes and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (required)
A minimum of 3 years of business experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) with a focus on category management (preferred), business analytics and/or shopper insights
Strong Analytical/Data Skills & Mindset
Syndicated data knowledge such as Circana (IRI)
JDA Space Planning software experience (preferred)
Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or MicroStrategy (preferred)
Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written & presentation & follow-through
Strength in leveraging facts and insights to build category selling stories and providing shelving guidance to retailer teams.
Superior drive for results with demonstrated ability to build indispensable, collaborative partnerships with the customer and internal business partners, across functional teams
Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Travel: 10%
Total Rewards
Salary range: USD $62,500.00 - USD $82,900.00
