About the Role

Works closely with all Radiology personnel including the Cat Scan Supervisor, Administrative Director, Medical Director, and Radiologists to perform technical procedures in the Department of Radiology, specifically Cat Scan Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Compute proper imaging techniques and contrast media administration.
  • Provide safe contrast media administration.
  • Evaluate orders for proper requisition entry and correlate to proper selection on CT scanner.
  • Obtain complete patient history and document required information on the requisition.
  • Perform routine scheduled exams in a timely fashion.
  • Perform patient assessment and plan patient care.
  • Educate patient and family.
  • Provide age-specific care for patients served.
  • Practice radiation protection and performance improvement.
  • Use good judgment and concern for patients' comfort and safety when transferring to exam table.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of CT exams and routinely produce quality exams.
  • Communicate issues regarding patient safety and workflow to peers and supervisor as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Registered Radiographer with the State of Louisiana, or registry eligible.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • ARRT registered.
  • Cat Scan certification preferred.
  • Licensed in Radiography with the State of Louisiana.
  • CPR certified.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel.
  • Must maintain required hours of in-service per year to meet CEU requirements as stipulated by the Louisiana State Board of Radiology Technologists.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Physical demands vary by job responsibilities; required to stay in stationary positions as well as move around.
  • Ability to position oneself and/or move equipment is normally required.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Occasionally required to transport items 20 pounds or more.
  • Frequently required to move 1-20 pounds.
  • Frequently required to push or pull 20 or more pounds.
  • Continuous use of hands and fingers for positioning different equipment.
