Position Summary
The CT Technologist is a non-exempt position that reports to both the Director of Radiology and the Department Supervisor. This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The individual must be capable of working in a stressful environment and taking appropriate action when necessary. On-call availability is required, meaning the CT Technologist must accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be able to report to the facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status is determined by the technologist on duty.
Essential Functions
- Reviewing patient history and physician's orders
- Education of patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation
- Preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications as ordered, within the scope of practice
- Critically monitoring the patient's condition and responding to any changes in status as appropriate
- Preparing equipment and supplies, implementing safety standards, and performing necessary quality control procedures on the equipment
- Troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting any equipment malfunctions
- Positioning the patient, performing imaging procedures, analyzing the results, and identifying any issues with image quality
- If needed, taking appropriate action to resolve these issues, such as repositioning the patient and repeating the procedure
- Entering, transmitting, and reporting scan results as part of the imaging process
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of education: Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree
- Graduate of Program in Discipline, required or validated by current licensure
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiology and CT.
- (BLS) Basic Life Support required
