CAT Compact Technician

About the role

The Cat Compact Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing Cat Compact equipment and components. This role requires troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions, disassembling and assembling components, and managing customer relations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses Cat Compact equipment malfunctions and failures
• Disassembles and assembles Cat Compact machine components to manufacturer’s specifications
• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains Cat Compact equipment and components
• Maintains good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
• Maintains company equipment – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
• Adapts schedule to accommodate workload fluctuations and meet customer demands

Requirements

• High school/equivalent diploma or trade school diploma preferred
• One year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required; Three or more years preferred
• Valid driver’s license

• Knowledge of dirt engaging equipment, aerial, and lifting equipment
• Quality control analysis skills
• Operation and control skills
• Equipment selection skills
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
• Ability to utilize a multi-meter and various OEM scan tools to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines and how they operate
• Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems

Skills

• The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
• The ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
• The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
