Key Responsibilities
- Manage a profitable Excess Casualty portfolio, including renewals and targeted new business, with clear accountability for results.
- Evaluate exposure, attachment, limit, pricing, and terms using sound underwriting judgment and documented rationale.
- Negotiate coverage and structure within authority and appetite, and drive opportunities to bind when risk selection and pricing are right.
- Build and maintain strong wholesale broker relationships through planned broker and insured meetings and purposeful market engagement.
- Develop and execute a production plan that supports profitable growth and balanced portfolio construction.
- Serve as a technical resource on complex deal structuring, coverage intent, and risk management considerations.
- Serve as a coach and developer of underwriters and reinforce file quality, documentation standards, and peer review discipline.
- Monitor market conditions, loss trends, and emerging hazards and incorporate insights into underwriting decisions.
- Partner with claims, actuarial, operations, and product to support portfolio initiatives and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Significant underwriting experience in Excess Casualty and umbrella, ideally within E&S and wholesale distribution.
- Demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth and manage a book of business with strong execution and follow through.
- Proven broker management and negotiation capability, with comfort in market facing work.
- Strong ability to evaluate complex risks, structure coverage appropriately, and price for severity driven outcomes.
- Ability to communicate decisions clearly, both verbally and in writing, with strong documentation habits.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of U.S. commercial excess casualty underwriting experience.
- Leadership experience mentoring underwriters or serving as a technical lead for a segment, region, or specialty focus.
- Experience using underwriting tools, data, and portfolio insights to support point of sale decisions.
- Prior experience with large, complex accounts and layered casualty structures, including coordination with internal stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range for this position is $170,000–$200,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, and geographic location. We offer a competitive benefits package, including:
