Senior Executive Underwriter, Excess Casualty
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Executive Underwriter to lead our Excess Casualty underwriting team. AIG is a commercial and personal insurance company that specializes in various lines of business including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. Responsibilities
- Perform highly technical and complex assignments within area of expertise.
- Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting personnel.
- Responsible for underwriting NA Excess Casualty products.
- Accept, decline, or modify new and renewal submissions submitted by brokers.
- Identify exposures and analyze required to underwrite an account, as well as coverage policies, and determine the exposure to loss assumed and restricted by the insuring agreements and exclusions.
- Manage a book of business and may participate in the formulation of the budget relative to regional budget/goals.
- Create and implement pricing and negotiation strategies, terms & conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients while maintaining the quality of the risk and NA Excess Casualty strategy.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend modifications to underwriting guidelines.
- Participate in special underwriting projects as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
- Draft manuscript endorsements that are particular to an underwriting exposure(s) for approval by legal.
- Assign and manage the work of a team of underwriters while providing guidance.
Requirements
- Commercial Insurance Company, Agency, or Brokerage experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Advanced working knowledge of lines of business NA Excess Casualty products including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks, etc.
- Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated and results-oriented.
- Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.
- Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
- Comfort with analytical tools and technology.

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $150,000-$200,000, with eligibility for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Actual compensation will depend on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
