Casual Recreation Services Representative
Casual position with the Town of Slave Lake’s Recreation Services team.
About the role
Reporting to the Recreation Services Coordinator, the Casual Recreation Services Representative collects payment for drop-ins and rentals at the Multi-Rec Centre Facility, accepts program registrations, assists with set-up and take-down of programs and events, and helps schedule all joint and municipally managed recreation facilities. The role also involves greeting facility users in a friendly and welcoming manner, answering public inquiries, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting in the planning and delivery of programs and activities.
Responsibilities
- Greet facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner.
- Accept payment for drop-in and facility rentals.
- Accept program registrations and assist with facility bookings.
- Assist in providing a clean and welcoming facility.
- Ensure tasks are performed safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Lead organized team activities, such as group games and other team-building activities.
- Ensure all supplies are in proper order for programming.
- Provide positive mentorship and role-model behavior toward youth groups.
- Act as a camp counselor during P.D. and Fall/Spring break camps.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of programs and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 16 years of age or older.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Experience with computers and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
- Experience working with children and/or teens.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
Skills
- Accurate typing skills and computer/word processing experience.
- Good working knowledge of standard office software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills in working with co-workers and the public.
- Flexibility, self-initiative, independence, and strong organizational skills.
- Proven productivity and reliability.
Working conditions
- Occasional light lifting.
- Long periods of sitting.
- Extensive use of computer and telephone.
- Good lighting, temperature, and noise control.
- Normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.
Health & Safety
- Must adhere to all safety standards under Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Town policies and procedures, and WHMIS guidelines.
- Ensure proper ergonomic requirements are met and good ergonomic procedures are practiced.
- Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with Town policies and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Pay
$18.72 – $23.59 per hour
Shortlisted candidates will undergo a skills and personality assessment test. The successful candidate will be required to provide professional references and an acceptable criminal record check.
