Sojourner House, located in Pittsburgh for more than 30 years, offers compassionate, faith-based recovery services to women and their children. We're looking for two Full-Time Recovery Support Specialists to join our team. Together, we can help women successfully achieve their recovery goals.
About the role
The Recovery Support Specialist provides women and their children with supportive services, teaching, guiding, and monitoring residents to ensure their safety and best opportunity for recovery. We are looking for one person for each shift: 2:30 PM–10:30 PM and 6:30 AM–2:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Engage, interact, and support women in our recovery program while maintaining a positive, professional, and client-focused manner with a diverse population
- Model and support clients and staff in health and wellness activities and with using healthy coping skills
- Transport women in recovery to and from appointments, as needed
- Help with childcare and support women with basic household management skills
- Discretely handle confidential information and prioritize and balance daily tasks
- Maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems
- Support the organization’s mission with sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony
- Provide gender-responsive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented systems of care
- Perform computer-based administrative duties, including learning and recording data in relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook email)
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least two years of applicable paid experience required
- Certified Addiction Counselor and/or Certified Recovery Specialist preferred
- Must possess computer skills
- Act 33 and 34 clearances and FBI clearance required to work with children
- Valid PA driver’s license
Schedule
- 2:30 PM–10:30 PM (one position)
- 6:30 AM–2:30 PM (one position)
