Casual Cleaner

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable to the Employer;
• Must have knowledge of and/or adaptability to cleaning procedures and compounds, and supplies necessary to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment;
• Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, i.e.: automatic floor scrubber, floor polishers, etc.
• Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management;
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
• Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
• Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleaning and servicing of floors, walls, and ceilings.
• Attending to the disposal of garbage.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Dust mopping of floors.
• Wet mopping floors.
• Scrubbing floors.
• Strip and refinish floors.
• Buffing floors.
• Wash and disinfect walls and ceilings.
• Move beds and equipment for cleaning purposes.
• Assist Aides when required.
• Maintain equipment in clean condition.
• Collect and dispose of garbage.
• Participate in Department's Quality Management program.
• Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
• Any such duties as may be designated from time to time by the immediate Supervisor.
