Qualifications
- Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable to the Employer;
- Must have knowledge of and/or adaptability to cleaning procedures and compounds, and supplies necessary to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment;
- Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, i.e.: automatic floor scrubber, floor polishers, etc.
- Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management;
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
- Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
- Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning and servicing of floors, walls, and ceilings.
- Attending to the disposal of garbage.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Dust mopping of floors.
- Wet mopping floors.
- Scrubbing floors.
- Strip and refinish floors.
- Buffing floors.
- Wash and disinfect walls and ceilings.
- Move beds and equipment for cleaning purposes.
- Assist Aides when required.
- Maintain equipment in clean condition.
- Collect and dispose of garbage.
- Participate in Department's Quality Management program.
- Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
- Any such duties as may be designated from time to time by the immediate Supervisor.
