Casual Catering Event Supervisor
Job Description
The Casual Catering Event Supervisor supports Amherst College Dining Services in delivering premium products and top-tier hospitality to the campus community. Reporting directly to the Catering Manger and Assistant Catering Manager, this role collaborates with the catering leadership team and front-of-house staff to execute a diverse range of events, from formal banquets and receptions to large-scale campus gatherings and deliveries.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, train, and supervise service staff during events to maintain high standards of hospitality.
- Act as the primary point of contact for guests; proactively manage and resolve any customer conflicts.
- Ensure all food and beverage service is delivered in a timely, efficient manner while strictly adhering to safe food handling practices.
- Adapt to dynamic scheduling changes on short notice and uphold all policies and procedures established by management.
- Assist with the physical setup and breakdown of events, including moving tables, chairs, and banquet equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized event spaces, including vacuuming and post-event cleanup.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience.
- Equivalent work experience in lieu of minimum education and related experience.
- Allergen Awareness Certified as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or be able to achieve within six months of employment.
- TIP'S Alcohol Certification in Massachusetts, or to be able to achieve within six months of employment.
- ServSafe Certification or to be able to achieve within six months of employment.
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks.
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test.
- Valid driver's license and successful completion of Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.
Preferred Experience
- Working in a college or university food service/Hospitality setting.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $20.00-$22.00 per hour. The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.
